Turkey to raise minimum pension to at least 23,500 lira ahead of July inflation update
Government sources say the minimum monthly pension in Turkey will be increased to no less than 23,500 lira. The adjustment, aimed at roughly 18 % inflation‑linked raises, is expected to affect about five million retirees and will be finalized after the June inflation figures are released by TÜİK on 3 July.
Analysts estimate the increase could add an extra 3,500‑3,600 lira to the lowest pension, depending on the six‑month inflation rate, which is projected around 18 %. The new rate will apply to SSK and Bağ‑Kurs retirees, while civil‑service pensions may see slightly lower percentages.
In parallel, several banks have launched cash‑promotion campaigns for retirees who transfer their salary accounts, offering bonuses up to 30,000 lira based on salary brackets.
