Turkish retirees seek Constitutional Court ruling to apply 2023 civil‑servant raise to pensions

Representatives of the DİSK Devrimci Emekliler Sendikası in Çorum, led by Hikmet Aydın, urged retirees to file individual petitions with Turkey’s Constitutional Court to have the 2023 seyyanen salary increase for civil servants (8,077 TL) reflected in pension payments. The petition argues that the raise, which now amounts to roughly 23,000 TL after coefficient adjustments, should be extended to retirees to address the high inflation and cost‑of‑living pressures they face.

Similarly, the Elazığ branch of the organization Tüm Emek Der announced that it has opened a lawsuit before the Constitutional Court on behalf of retirees, and the court has accepted the case. The group is calling all retirees to submit their own applications, noting that a favorable ruling could increase many pensioners’ monthly incomes by up to 23,000 TL, potentially doubling some payments. Both groups framed the issue as a matter of equality and legal rights for those who have served in the public sector.
