Turkish Süper Lig faces potential postponement amid refereeing scandal

The Turkish Süper Lig is facing potential postponement following a major investigation into the Central Referee Board (MHK). The crisis was triggered by legal actions against high-ranking officials, including the detention of MHK Chairman Ferhat Gündoğdu and proceedings against referees Yasin Kol and Göktuğ Hazar Erel.

Former Süper Lig referee Deniz Ateş Bitnel has suggested that the league may need to be suspended, arguing that current conditions make it difficult for the competition to continue healthily. Supporting the idea of a pause, Beşiktaş President Serdal Adalı proposed a possible two-week hiatus to allow for a detailed investigation and a fundamental resolution of the ongoing issues.

Galatasaray President Dursun Özbek has criticized the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) for its silence regarding the situation, calling for the federation to provide a clear roadmap in response to the arrests and serious allegations surrounding the refereeing system.
