Turkey's Education Ministry launches digital teacher development and hiring reforms

Education Minister Yusuf Tekin announced a comprehensive digital ecosystem for teachers' professional development. The new Teacher Education Digital Ecosystem merges the Learning Record Repository with the Teacher Training Monitoring and Evaluation System, creating a single data‑driven platform that tracks seminars, courses and performance analytics. A "Dynamic Lesson Language" project will provide technology‑focused learning scenarios for classrooms.

In parallel, the ministry issued a circular outlining the timeline and criteria for assigning teachers who exceed norm staffing levels. The schedule runs from 17 August to 1 September 2026, covering identification, appeals, applications and final appointments for both permanent and contract teachers. The upcoming Academic Graduation Exam (AGS) results will determine the final teacher appointment quota, projected at 10 000–15 000 new hires, based on academy capacity, retirements and budget limits.

These measures aim to digitise, streamline and make transparent the training, monitoring and hiring processes for Turkey’s teachers.
