Turkish States Education Ministers Meet in Kazakhstan, Agree on Expanded Cooperation

Education ministers from the Turkish States (TDT) gathered for their ninth meeting at the Dostluk House in Turkestan, Kazakhstan. Hosted by Kazakhstan’s Minister of Science and Higher Education Sayasat Nurbek, the ministers—including Turkey’s Yusuf Tekin, Azerbaijan’s Emin Amrullayev, Kyrgyzstan’s Dogdurkul Kendirbayeva, North Cyprus’s Nazım Çavuşoğlu, and Uzbekistan’s Sardor Radjabov—adopted a declaration to deepen collaboration across primary, vocational, technical and digital education.

Key outcomes include the establishment of a Turkish States Education Information Network, support for a Turkish World Higher Education Data Bank, and the creation of quality‑assurance mechanisms for mutual recognition of diplomas. The declaration also calls for expanding student and teacher exchange programmes, launching a dedicated fund for the Orhun Exchange Programme, and strengthening joint research projects and regional excellence centres.

The ministers highlighted the importance of fostering a shared cultural and linguistic identity among future generations and pledged to continue regular webinars and expert working groups to promote digital resources in Turkic languages.
