Turkish teen Ömer Yağız Karakütük wins silver at Batumi International Taekwondo Championship

Ömer Yağız Karakütük, a student from Karadeniz Ereğli, Turkey, competed in the 65 kg division at the International Taekwondo Championship held in Batumi, Georgia from 31 July to 2 August 2026. The event featured 660 athletes from ten countries. Karakütük placed second, earning a silver medal for Turkey.

District Education Director Harun Akgül praised the achievement, calling it a source of pride for the district and the nation and highlighting the athlete’s discipline, determination and hard work.
