Turkish teen Selin Songül Kılıçoğlu targets national triathlon team
Selin Songül Kılıçoğlu, a 15‑year‑old athlete from İzmir, began paddle swimming at age 12 following her licensed‑swimmer sister. In 2024 she placed fourth in the Double‑Paddle 50 m D category at the Istanbul competition, competed in the CMAS Paddle‑Swimming World Cup in Hungary, and won the 50 m and 100 m events in the Youth A category at the İzmir Paddle‑Swimming Championship.
She later switched to triathlon, winning the GEGA Aquatlon M3 Turkish championship in Kuşadası and surpassing the C‑level threshold in running. Selin now trains twice daily, balancing school work, and aims to meet the swimming standard required for the Turkish national triathlon team. She cites strong family support, especially from her mother Arzu Kılıçoğlu, as essential to her pursuit of international representation.
