Turkish tourism initiatives focus on local economic growth

Tourism development strategies in Turkey are focusing on diversifying visitor experiences and maximizing local economic impact. In İznik, official Hasan Duşlu emphasized that increasing visitor numbers must translate into direct benefits for local tradespeople and producers. He advocated for a tourism model that encourages longer stays and overnight accommodations by integrating historical sites with local gastronomy, ceramics, and olive production.

Similarly, Kuşadası is working to transform into a year-round destination through a tourism mobilization initiative. The region is leveraging its 39-kilometer coastline, Blue Flag beaches, and historical sites such as the Pygele Ancient City and Güvercinada to attract visitors beyond the summer season. Efforts include environmental improvements, restoration projects, and cultural investments to highlight the area's natural and historical assets.
