Turkish tourism leaders address regional development in Bodrum and Bursa
Tourism stakeholders in Turkey are focusing on regional development and addressing logistical challenges. In Bodrum, Muğla MP Yakup Otgöz met with representatives from the Association of Turkish Travel Agencies (TÜRSAB) Bodrum Regional Representative Board and the Bodrum Hoteliers Association (BODER). Discussions centered on preserving the district's tourism strength, addressing transportation issues, and optimizing flight planning to meet industry needs.
In Bursa, İbrahim Burkay, President of the Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BTSO), emphasized the need for cities to compete globally by increasing the average length of stay for visitors. While noting that Bursa attracts tourists, he highlighted that the average overnight stay remains below two days. Burkay pointed to the success of attraction centers like the Bursa Business School and the Gökmen Aerospace and Space Education Center (GUHEM) as models for transforming the city into a year-round destination.
