Turkish towns upgrade major streets to improve traffic and cityscape

In the Sarıkaya district of Yozgat Province, municipal authorities have launched a façade renewal and urban design project on Baran Caddesi. Led by Mayor Osman Gözan, the initiative will remodel building exteriors, signage, shopfronts and lighting to create a modern, cohesive look that respects the nearby 2,000‑year‑old Roman Bath (Basilica Therma). The work aims to boost the street’s visual appeal, support tourism and aid local businesses while minimizing disruption to daily life.

Meanwhile, Kocaeli’s Başiskele municipality is completing the second stage of upgrades on Selahattin Eyyübi Caddesi. A 700‑metre section between Muteber Street and Pasinler Avenue is being widened from a single‑lane (1×1) to a dual‑lane (2×2) road, with new sub‑soil, asphalt layers, a 150‑metre retaining wall, additional bus stops, accessible sidewalks and decorative lighting. The project is intended to increase traffic capacity, improve safety and give the corridor a contemporary urban appearance.
