Turkish transport sectors face regulatory and visa challenges

In Milas, taxi operators have called for increased inspections to combat illegal passenger transport. During a meeting led by Nurol Paskal, President of the Milas Drivers and Automobile Tradesmen Chamber, representatives discussed the economic impact of unlicensed services on the approximately 210 legal taxis operating in the area. Local law enforcement and municipal authorities attended the session to evaluate current enforcement measures.

Separately, Konya Member of Parliament Barış Bektaş has raised concerns in the Grand National Assembly regarding Schengen visa restrictions affecting international truck drivers. Bektaş highlighted that the 90/180 day residency rule prevents drivers from completing regular export trips, as they risk exceeding permitted stay limits even while their visas remain valid. He urged ministries to implement permanent solutions to protect the logistics sector and Turkey's export capabilities.
