Turkish universities climb UN sustainability rankings

Yozgat Bozok University advanced to the 801‑1000 band in the 2026 Times Higher Education Sustainable Impact Rankings, moving up in several Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) categories and ranking 41st among Turkey's 74 listed universities. The university entered the top‑300 globally for Quality Education, reached the top‑300 for Zero Hunger (ranking 8th among Turkish institutions), and improved its positions in Reduced Inequalities, Good Health and Well‑Being, and Climate Action.

Sakarya University also posted strong results in the same ranking, placing in the 3‑8 band nationally and entering the global top‑100 in eight SDG categories. Its specific world rankings include 10th for Accessible and Clean Energy, 20th for Climate Action, 46th for Life Below Water, 50th for Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions, 51st for Life on Land, 58th for Responsible Production and Consumption, 60th for Clean Water and Sanitation, and 88th for Sustainable Cities and Communities. Both institutions attribute their progress to campus sustainability initiatives, energy‑efficiency projects, zero‑waste management, and broader societal contributions aligned with the United Nations' goals.
