Turkish sports clubs prepare for upcoming competitive seasons

The İzmir Büyükşehir Belediyesi Wheelchair Basketball Team is preparing for its 21st season in the Süper Lig. The team, which has secured five league championships and holds records such as 105 consecutive wins, is scheduled to begin its campaign on October 24 against a representative from İskenderun. In addition to domestic competition, the club aims to represent İzmir in European arenas.

Coach Ali Reyhani emphasized high ambitions for the new season, noting the importance of local government support and encouraging individuals with disabilities to engage in sports to build self-confidence.

Other regional sports updates include Selendi Belediyespor beginning its training sessions under manager Adem Korkmaz following its promotion to the Manisa Süper Amatör League. Additionally, İskenderun Belediye Spor's disabled basketball team held a season opening ceremony attended by local officials to celebrate their recent successes and prepare for the upcoming year.

In Samsun, the municipality has announced its 2026-2027 cultural and arts season, featuring the Samsun Open WTA 125 women's tennis tournament, a book fair, and various workshops.
