Turkish women’s craft programs display handmade art across Bolu and Izmir

In Bolu, a newly launched wood‑burning course organized by the local Halk Eğitimi Centre attracted fifteen women, most of them housewives, who created decorative tables, trays, paintings and other items inspired by nature, historic architecture and religious motifs. Instructor Naile Can noted that the participants achieved results beyond expectations.

In Izmir’s Bayraklı district, the municipality partnered with a community education centre to hold an exhibition of works produced by women in hobby and vocational courses. The show featured around 6,000 handmade pieces, including jewelry, paintings, embroidered textiles, painted wood items, home accessories and clothing designs, and included a fashion runway. Mayor İrfan Önal highlighted the role of such programs in empowering women and strengthening the community.
