Turkish Workers' Confederation (Türk‑İş) Opens New Headquarters Building

The Turkish Workers' Confederation (Türk‑İş) marked its 74th anniversary by inaugurating a new headquarters in Mustafa Kemal Mahallesi, Ankara. Union president Ergün Atalay hosted the ceremony, which was attended by leaders of affiliated unions, workers, and families of martyrs and injured members.

Atalay explained that the project began after President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan visited the union in 2020 and ordered the allocation of a 21‑decare plot for a new building. The construction faced legal challenges, but the Council of State (Danıştay) ruled in favor of Türk‑İş, allowing the work to continue. The new complex is situated near the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the National Intelligence Organization (MIT), and the Turkish Pentagon, positioning the union at the centre of state institutions.

The opening included a moment of silence, the national anthem, prayers, and a symbolic animal sacrifice. Atalay emphasized the building’s symbolic role for democracy, freedom and workers’ rights, stating that it will serve both the union and the nation.
