Turkish Wrestlers and Handball Team Head to European Youth Championships
Two young wrestlers from Kahramanmaraş—Sefa Cesur (86 kg) and Nurettin Emin Kapal (61 kg)—will represent Turkey at the U‑20 Freestyle Wrestling European Championship in North Macedonia from 6 to 12 July. The athletes, who train under the Kahramanmaraş Metropolitan Municipality, aim to win medals and raise the profile of Turkish wrestling on the European stage.
In handball, the Turkish U‑17 squad featuring Abdullah Temel, İbrahim Günay and coach Bahir Arnal competed in the European Championship, prompting the North Cyprus Handball Federation to hail their participation as “a great source of happiness and pride.” Ediz Arıkan added, “We are proud of them,” congratulating the team for representing the nation abroad.
Both federations highlighted the significance of the youth athletes’ experience for future success and national honor.
