Turkish‑origin brothers on trial for revenge killing in Berlin

Three brothers of Turkish origin are on trial at the Landgericht Berlin for the murder of a 44‑year‑old man in the Berlin‑Weißensee district. Prosecutors allege the killing was an act of "blood revenge" for the death of a cousin in July 2025, who had been fatally stabbed during a large brawl in Berlin‑Gesundbrunnen.

According to the indictment, the brothers stalked the victim for weeks and on 31 January 2026 opened fire from a car as the victim was driving his transport‑er. Between 14 and 18 projectiles penetrated the driver’s door, killing him on the seat. After the shooting, two of the accused set the suspected getaway vehicle on fire in Berlin‑Marzahn to destroy evidence. The trial began with the defendants remaining silent. The case is scheduled for up to 18 further hearing days, with the next session expected by November 2026.
