Turkmen President outlines new agricultural program and UN partnership

On July 20, Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedow held a digital meeting with United Nations officials, reviewing state programmes aimed at strengthening long‑term cooperation with international organisations and expanding mutually beneficial partnerships.

The President focused on agricultural development, directing attention to wheat and cotton sowing on irrigated lands in Daşoguz and Lebap provinces, as well as cotton‑related work in Mary. He called for adherence to modern agro‑technical standards and high‑quality oversight of construction projects for multi‑purpose facilities slated to open in the regions this year. The meeting also welcomed the new permanent UN representative in Turkmenistan, Syaoszun Greys Wany, who delivered a letter of confidence to the President.

Additional priorities highlighted included peacekeeping, preventive diplomacy, energy security, transport infrastructure, environmental protection and climate‑related initiatives, positioning Turkmenistan’s efforts within the broader strategic dialogue of the “Turkmenistan‑UN” advisory council.
