Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov Meets Swiss Vice President Ignazio Cassis, OSCE Chair

On 5 August 2026, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov received Swiss Vice President Ignazio Cassis, who is also serving as the OSCE Chairperson‑in‑Office, in the Awaza National Tourist Zone. The leaders discussed expanding OSCE‑Turkmenistan cooperation, highlighting interests in secure energy supplies, transport, environmental protection, water management and human‑rights initiatives. President Berdimuhamedov reaffirmed Turkmenistan’s readiness to deepen partnership across political, economic and cultural spheres.

Later the same day, Turkmen Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov met Cassis to review the OSCE’s annual project plan for the Ashgabat centre, the preparation of upcoming joint events and the continuation of high‑level regional meetings. Both sides expressed commitment to further constructive collaboration between Turkmenistan, Switzerland and the OSCE.
