Turkmenistan and Pakistan advocate for women's leadership in UN peace forums
At a United Nations High-Level Forum on the implementation of the Programme of Action on a Culture of Peace, representatives from Turkmenistan and Pakistan advocated for increased female leadership in global peace and security initiatives.
Turkmenistan, representing the Group of Friends of Neutrality for Peace, Security and Sustainable Development, emphasized that neutrality should be viewed as a principled approach to conflict prevention through mediation and impartiality rather than indifference. The delegation stressed that a sustainable culture of peace requires the full, equal, and safe participation of women.
Pakistan's Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Usman Jadoon, called for investment in women's leadership to ensure durable peace. He noted that peace is more stable when women spearhead negotiations and argued that fostering a culture of peace depends on women's unhindered access to education, justice, and political processes.
