Turkmenistan electricity supply to Afghanistan disrupted
A technical issue within Turkmenistan has disrupted electricity supplies to seven Afghan provinces, according to the national energy company, Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS).
The affected regions include Balkh, Jawzjan, Sar-e-Pul, Faryab, Badghis, Herat, and Samangan. DABS is currently coordinating with Turkmenistan’s electricity distribution company, Turkmenenergo, to resolve the problem and restore power.
To mitigate the impact, Afghan utility officials have held discussions with Uzbek authorities to arrange alternative electricity supplies for Balkh, Sheberghan, Maimana, Sar-e-Pul, and Samangan. Uzbekistan has reportedly assured cooperation in providing electricity through these alternative routes.
