Turkmenistan engages in diplomatic talks with Tajikistan and promotes UN law initiative

Foreign ministers from Turkmenistan and Tajikistan held political consultations in Ashgabat to strengthen bilateral diplomatic and political cooperation. The discussions focused on expanding economic ties, specifically in the sectors of energy, transport, communications, agriculture, and investment. Both nations highlighted their effective partnership within the United Nations, noting that Tajikistan has co-sponsored over 30 resolutions initiated by Turkmenistan.

In Mashhad, Iran, the Consulate General of Turkmenistan hosted a round table to discuss the upcoming Halk Maslahaty meeting scheduled for September 23, 2026, in Ashgabat. The event also highlighted Turkmenistan’s successful initiative to have the United Nations General Assembly proclaim 2028 as the ‘Year of International Law,’ a resolution that received support from 78 co-sponsoring states.
