Turkmenistan President launches national ‘Healthy Mother‑Healthy Child’ initiative

A high‑level national council on mothers and children was convened at the “Yyldyz” guest house in Ashgabat. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow chaired the meeting, which brought together the vice‑president of the Children’s Fund Oguljahan Atabaýew, ministries of health and education, NGOs, international organisations and diplomatic representatives.

The council approved a long‑term strategy titled “Healthy Mother – Healthy Child – Healthy Future” for the 2026‑2030 period. The programme aims to improve maternal and child health, strengthen nutrition and preventive care, and coordinate multi‑year projects across health, education and social sectors as a core element of Turkmenistan’s state policy.

The initiative is presented as a cornerstone of the country’s broader development plan, linking health outcomes to social stability and economic growth.
