Turku Archipelago seeks official scent explorer for unique role

The Visit Turku Archipelago Oy tourism organization in Finland has launched an international search for a unique role: the official “Nose” of the Turku Archipelago. The selected individual will be tasked with exploring and documenting the various scents of the region, including sea air, pine forests, traditional saunas, and fresh bread.

The engagement is scheduled to last between five and seven days during May or June 2027. The position offers a gross compensation of 2,000 euros, with the employer covering all travel and accommodation expenses. Beyond smelling, the candidate must capture photos and videos for social media and provide a written report to assist in creating a scent-based tourist guide.

No formal education in perfumery or prior industry experience is required. Applicants must be at least 18 years old, possess a strong sense of smell, and have the legal right to work in Finland. To apply, candidates must post a short video on Instagram or TikTok describing a scent of their choice using specific hashtags and then complete an official application form. The deadline for applications is October 25, 2026.
