Turkuvaz Medya clashes with RTÜK over ATV fine

Tensions have escalated between Turkuvaz Medya and the Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK) following an 8 million lira fine imposed on the ATV television channel regarding the program of Esra Erol.

Turkuvaz Medya, led by CEO Serhat Albayrak, responded to the penalty through its affiliated media outlets, including Sabah, Takvim, and A Haber. These outlets have published sharp criticisms, alleging that RTÜK is unfairly targeting traditional national broadcasters while failing to regulate content on digital platforms such as TikTok and YouTube.

Reports suggest this conflict is part of a broader internal struggle within pro-government media circles. Critics within the group argue that RTÜK is exhibiting a lack of foresight by penalizing mainstream television instead of addressing the perceived moral decline on unregulated digital media platforms.
