Turner and Wohlsen secure $100 million museum contract in Pennsylvania

A joint venture between Turner Construction, a subsidiary of the Spanish ACS Group, and Wohlsen Construction has secured a $100 million contract to expand and transform the Brandywine Conservancy & Museum of Art in Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania.

The project includes the construction of a new 0.37-hectare museum building designed by Kengo Kuma & Associates in collaboration with Schwartz/Silver Architects Inc. Additionally, the contract involves significant renovations to the museum’s historic mill building to preserve its heritage while modernizing visitor facilities.

The development also aims to transform the surrounding landscape into a 131.5-hectare public garden and nature reserve designed by Field Operations. This expansion will feature approximately 16.1 kilometers of trails, creating a unified campus that connects the studios of American artists N.C. Wyeth and Andrew Wyeth.
