Turner Exhibition at National Museum of Western Art announced

The Tate Museum Turner Exhibition, titled ‘Turner Exhibition — Sublime Painting, Dialogue with Contemporary Art’, is scheduled to be held at the National Museum of Western Art from October 24, 2026, to February 21, 2027.

As part of the exhibition's promotional activities, manga artist Shinichi Sakamoto has created an original 47-page manga titled ‘Icarus no Fude’ (The Brush of Icarus), which explores the life and themes of the painter J.M.W. Turner. The work will be released as a book featuring special interviews and will be available through the exhibition's special shop or as part of a goods set.

Additional project details include Yuta Koseki serving as the audio guide navigator and the launch of the ‘♥TURNER’ project, which aims to connect the exhibition to daily life through various collaborations. Celsys, the developer of CLIP STUDIO PAINT, is also cooperating with the event, hosting an SNS campaign to distribute exhibition tickets, software, and Sakamoto's new book.
