Turnitin expands AI writing detection to Turkish, German, and Dutch

Turnitin has announced the expansion of its AI writing detection capabilities to include Turkish, German, and Dutch. This update aims to support academic integrity by providing educators with tools to identify AI-generated content across a broader range of languages.

James Thorley, Turnitin Vice President for EMEA and APAC, stated that the expansion allows more educators to guide the responsible use of AI in classrooms. The goal is to provide insights that facilitate meaningful conversations between students and teachers, focusing on supporting original and critical thinking rather than mere surveillance.

This new multilingual support builds upon Turnitin’s existing AI detection infrastructure, which already includes English, Spanish, Japanese, and Arabic.
