Turnov opens 25‑million CZK natural swimming pool in Dolánky

The town of Turnov inaugurated a new natural swimming pool (biotop) in the Dolánky area, investing roughly 25 million Czech crowns. The facility replaces a former, decommissioned pool and offers free entry, but access is limited to pedestrians, cyclists or scooter users.

The biotop features an organic‑shaped pond about 40 m wide, 60 m long and up to 2.5 m deep, with natural water‑cleaning based on zooplankton and filtration equipment. Amenities include outdoor showers, toilets, a kiosk operated by DUMkont, s.r.o., and public lighting. The kiosk is expected to open in August. Water quality will depend on visitor behaviour, with recommendations to shower before entering and avoid sunscreen that could pollute the water.

Mayor Tomáš Hocke emphasized that the site is intended for recreation and refreshment rather than a full‑service water park, and noted that swimmers seeking more conventional facilities can use nearby Jizera River or the Maškovy Garden pool.
