Turtle Walker documentary to premiere on Animal Planet

The documentary “Turtle Walker”, directed by Taira Malaney and produced by Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti, is scheduled to premiere on Animal Planet on October 19. The film is part of the wildlife anthology series “India: Epic Wild Stories”.

The documentary chronicles the life and work of conservationist Satish Bhaskar, who has spent decades documenting and protecting sea turtle nesting sites along the Indian coastline and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The film covers his expeditions dating back to the late 1970s, including his time on the remote Suheli Par island in Lakshadweep, where he famously communicated with his wife via messages in bottles.

Additionally, the film explores Bhaskar’s return to the Andaman and Nicobar Islands following the 2004 tsunami to study the disaster's impact on sea turtle habitats and nesting behaviors.
