HÜRKUŞ-II training aircraft delivered to Turkish Air Force
The first two HÜRKUŞ-II next-generation basic training aircraft have been officially delivered to the Turkish Air Force. Developed by TUSAŞ, the aircraft has achieved a domestic content rate of approximately 80 percent and holds Turkey’s first military type certification for a manned aircraft.
During a ceremony at the TUSAŞ facilities in Kahramankazan, Defense Industry President Haluk Görgün stated that the technical expertise gained from the HÜRKUŞ project will be transferred to subsequent programs, including the HÜRJET and KAAN fighter jet projects. The aircraft is designed for pilot training, light attack, and close air support missions.
The procurement program has been expanded from an initial 15 aircraft to a total of 55 units. The delivery schedule aims to have HÜRKUŞ-II squadrons operational by 2027, with the full fleet of 55 aircraft expected to be integrated into the inventory by the end of 2028. TUSAŞ also intends to pursue international export contracts for the platform.
