Tusa Inaugurates Angelino Patti Museum of Photography and Visual Arts

The new Museo della Fotografia e delle Arti Visive “Angelino Patti” opened on Thursday, 6 August in the Sicilian town of Tusa. Housed in the 17th‑century baroque Palazzo Costantino on Via San Giuseppe, the museum transforms the historic building into a contemporary space for visual memory, research and education.

The museum’s permanent collection showcases the photographic archive of Angelino Patti (1895‑1969), who documented daily life, religious rites and social change in Tusa after returning from the United States in 1927. The exhibition is arranged over three levels: a ground‑floor archive of Patti’s original prints and multimedia displays; a first floor dedicated to visual arts and temporary shows that explore the dialogue between photography and engraving; and a second‑floor education lab for workshops and training in visual arts.

The project aims to preserve and reinterpret the region’s visual heritage while providing a laboratory for contemporary artists and the local community.
