TUSAŞ and ROKETSAN sign HÜRSAT-2 satellite production contract
TUSAŞ and ROKETSAN have signed a contract for the HÜRSAT-2 project during the 77th International Space Congress in Antalya. This initiative marks the development of Turkey’s first mass-producible satellite family, designed to meet diverse mission requirements through a modular architecture.
The HÜRSAT family includes two primary concepts: HÜRSAT EO, which utilizes electro-optical imaging for high-detail daytime reconnaissance, and HÜRSAT SAR, which employs Synthetic Aperture Radar to enable imaging through cloud cover and without sunlight. These satellites are designed to be more compact than the GÖKTÜRK class, with target masses potentially under 200 kilograms.
The project aims to reduce production costs and timelines while establishing a sustainable supply chain. The HÜRSAT architecture supports a constellation of satellites in low Earth orbit, allowing for more frequent regional imaging and faster data access. While HÜRSAT-1 is currently undergoing testing to validate core technologies, the HÜRSAT-2 agreement focuses on a scalable, mass-production model for various users.
