Tuscany activists protest agrivoltaic project linked to Israeli firm
Civil society groups in Tuscany are protesting a proposed agrivoltaic project in Ribolla, Grosseto, due to the involvement of the Israeli group Shikun & Binui. The project, proposed by SPV Energy 3 Srl, involves the installation of approximately 37,000 modules covering 25 hectares to produce roughly 20 megawatts of power.
Activists, including the Rights in Palestine Collective, argue that SPV Energy 3 Srl acts as a front for Shikun & Binui. They claim the Israeli group is linked to activities in illegal settlements and the construction of barriers in Palestinian territories, noting that Shikun & Binui is listed by the United Nations Human Rights Office as being involved in activities connected to Israeli settlements in occupied territories.
Protesters are calling on the Tuscany Region to withhold final authorization for the plant. The mobilization, using the slogan ‘This sun will not feed the genocide’, aims to inform the local population about the corporate structure behind the energy investment and its geopolitical implications.
