Tuscany advances with new construction leadership and tramway project

Andrea Tanzini, former president of ANCE Siena, has been appointed treasurer of ANCE Toscana, the regional association of building contractors. His nomination was confirmed at the assembly in Florence, where Rossano Massai was unanimously re‑elected as president for the next four‑year term. The leadership change is presented as a sign of the strong entrepreneurial fabric of Siena and a commitment to influence regional decisions on infrastructure, ecological transition and urban regeneration.

Separately, the regional government and the city of Florence announced the laying of the first stone for the Leopolda‑Le Piagge tram line (line 4.1). The project, funded with €30 million for related road works and an additional €12 million for a park‑and‑ride facility, will create a 6.4‑km line with 13 stops, linking the western part of the city to the new tram terminus. Construction is expected to last 800 days, serving roughly 8.1 million passengers annually and reducing CO₂ emissions per passenger‑kilometre by about 70 %.
