Tuscany allocates over 3.5 million euros for Pistoia soil defense

The Tuscany Regional Council has approved the second installment of the 2026 Operational Document for Soil Defense, allocating over 3.5 million euros to the Province of Pistoia.

The most significant investments include 2,215,000 euros for the hydraulic realignment of the minor network of the Ombrone Pistoiese basin in Barba, and 1,315,000 euros for a new expansion basin on the Fosso Ombroncello in Quarrata. These projects will be managed by the Genio Civile with the assistance of the Consorzio di Bonifica 3 Medio Valdarno.

Additional funds are earmarked for hydraulic safety in other areas: 225,000 euros for restoring the right bank of the Cessana stream in Buggiano and 116,000 euros for the left bank of the Pescia stream in Collodi, managed by Consorzio 4 Basso Valdarno. Furthermore, 100,000 euros are allocated for the design of the left bank of the Ombrone Pistoiese in Agliana. The plan also includes specific interventions to restore roads affected by landslides.
