Tuscany camping sites face conversion to glamping after sale

Long-term campers at the historic Campeggio Continental and its twin site, Belmare, in Castagneto Carducci, Tuscany, are facing displacement following the sale of the facilities to a Luxembourg-based fund.

Management issued notices requesting that guests vacate their pitches by September 20. The ownership has also commissioned an agricultural scientist to conduct an inventory of all trees in the park, with the possibility of tree removal.

These developments have sparked fears among regular visitors that the traditional camping sites will be converted into high-end glamping facilities, replacing long-term residents with short-term tourists. Upgrading works are expected to continue throughout the autumn and winter.
