Tuscany coast faces severe weather and maritime disruptions

Severe weather conditions continue to impact the Tuscan coast, characterized by strong winds and rough seas. In the Baratti area within the Livorno province, several boats have sunk due to the heavy conditions.

Maritime connections to Elba Island have been interrupted, forcing travelers to monitor ferry schedules closely. The region, particularly the Livorno coastline and the Tuscan Archipelago, has already suffered from intense rainfall, which previously caused flooding, landslides, and debris accumulation on roads in areas such as Pomonte, Patresi, and Sant’Andrea.

Regional civil protection had issued a yellow alert for strong winds, with gusts expected to reach 80-100 kilometers per hour on the islands and the Livorno coast. While some residual showers are expected to subside, sea conditions remain very rough, particularly in northern sectors.
