Tuscany funds public‑transport vouchers to freeze fare increases

The Tuscany regional government allocated €15.5 million to prevent any rise in public‑transport subscription prices from 1 August, covering workers, students, pensioners and other regular users. In a separate measure, an additional €3.55 million will be used to issue vouchers that offset the inflation‑linked increase for all annual, quarterly and monthly urban and extra‑urban tickets, with special provisions for low‑income families and under‑11 and under‑26 passengers.

Union representatives welcomed the funding but called for further actions on service efficiency, driver safety and anti‑evasion campaigns, urging the region to invest in dedicated bus lanes and additional resources to sustain the improvements.
