Tuscany funds railway shutdown shuttles and SP4 road upgrade
The Tuscany regional government announced that the Ponte al Pino railway bridge in Florence will be closed for mandatory replacement works on 6–9 July and 27–30 July. All trains arriving from the south will terminate at Florence Campo di Marte, where free high‑frequency shuttle buses will transport passengers to the city centre. Regional transport assessor Filippo Boni urged commuters to use remote‑work options and launched an information campaign to mitigate the expected disruptions.
In a separate investment, the region allocated €3 million to build a new variant of the provincial road SP 4 between km 44+100 and 46+700 in the municipality of Santa Fiora, Grosseto. The project, expected to be completed by the end of 2028, aims to improve local traffic safety, support the area's economy—including its geothermal sector—and counter rural depopulation. Boni highlighted the funding as part of the “Tuscany Diffusa” policy to strengthen internal territories.
