Tuscany healthcare project wins award for pharmacy-based cardiac monitoring
The Tuscany region has been named a winner of the Forum PA Sanità 2026 award for its innovative cardiac Holter monitoring project. The service allows patients prescribed 24-hour cardiac activity monitoring to visit one of 364 participating public or private pharmacies.
The initiative aims to shift diagnostic services from hospitals to local communities, specifically targeting the reduction of hospital waiting lists. By utilizing telemedicine and local pharmacies, the project seeks to improve accessibility for citizens, particularly those living in disadvantaged or remote areas, while maintaining high standards of care and safety.
