Tuscany opposes new Italian government repatriation centers

Emiliano Fossi, the secretary of the Democratic Party in Tuscany, has voiced strong opposition to the Italian government's plan to establish new Repatriation Centers (CPR) in Tuscany and five other regions. Fossi criticized Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi's announcement, labeling it as propaganda that disregards human rights and local territories.

Fossi described the centers as ineffective and inhumane, characterizing them as “black holes of fundamental rights” that fail to achieve their stated goals. He argued that imposing detention structures on local communities without consultation or a comprehensive integration plan is unacceptable. He further stated that Tuscany will resist these decisions, which he claims are being imposed from above without regard for the region's culture of hospitality and dignity.
