Tuscany political groups denounce water and waste service failures

Political movements in Tuscany are criticizing the regional administration over the deteriorating management of essential public services, specifically water and waste. In Villa San Giovanni, the movements Spazio Democratico and Scelta Comune have denounced ongoing water rationing and service disruptions. They noted that while the Mayor suggested potential sabotage at the Pirgo reservoir, the water management company cited a technical issue involving an air bubble in the pipeline, leading to calls for greater transparency.

In the province of Pisa, the group Cascina Rossa has criticized the Tuscany Region, led by President Eugenio Giani, for lacking a unified strategy regarding waste management. The group highlighted rising tariffs and declining service quality despite high recycling rates. They argued that the current regional waste plan is generic and that the complex administrative structure, including entities like Ato and Retiambiente, lacks efficiency. Cascina Rossa proposed that the Region should define a more sustainable plant plan while returning more direct management and tariff control to local municipalities.
