Tuscany ranks as a top destination for international wine tourism

Recent studies by the Italian Association of Food and Wine Tourism (AITE) highlight Tuscany as a premier destination for international wine tourists, particularly from the United States and the DACH region (Germany, Austria, and Switzerland).

In the US market report, Tuscany was identified by 81% of potential wine tourists, following Sicily (82%) and preceding Piedmont (56%). Specific areas of interest include Chianti (59%), Montalcino (56%), and Montepulciano (55%). American travelers expressed a strong desire for authentic gastronomic experiences, with 66% noting that the combination of wine experiences and visits to historical cities increases Italy's attractiveness.

For the German-speaking market, Tuscany remains the symbolic region for Italian wine tourism. Chianti is the most desired destination at 38%, followed by Montepulciano (33%), Montalcino (20%), Bolgheri (18%), and Valdichiana (14%).

Eugenio Giani, president of the Tuscany Region, stated that Tuscan wine represents culture, telling the story of the landscape and historical labor. He emphasized the responsibility to maintain the quality of the landscape and hospitality that distinguishes the region.
