Tuscany reopens applications for childcare subsidies

The Tuscany Region has reopened applications for its ‘Nidi Gratis’ program, a measure designed to reduce or eliminate childcare costs for families with children aged 0 to 3. Eligible families must have an ISEE (Equivalent Economic Situation Indicator) of no more than 40,000 euros and reside within a Tuscan municipality. Applications are being accepted from October 12 until October 26, 2026, through the official regional portal.

For the 2026/2027 educational year, the program has already seen 14,236 requests totaling over 38.6 million euros in regional contributions. The funding covers nursery schools, play spaces, and home-based educational services, whether managed by municipalities, public entities, or accredited private providers.

In a related development, the municipality of Montelupo Fiorentino has secured over 40,542 euros through the ‘Nidi di Qualità’ regional call. Funded by the Tuscany Region and the European Social Fund Plus 2021-2027, these resources aim to improve the quality of educational services for children aged 3 to 36 months and support the reconciliation of work and family life.
