Tuscany and Kvarner regions under orange weather alerts

Severe weather alerts have been issued for parts of Italy and Croatia due to the risk of intense thunderstorms, heavy rainfall, and hydrogeological instability.

In Tuscany, an orange alert is in effect for several areas, including Lucca, Livorno, Pistoia, and Grosseto. Local authorities have implemented various precautionary measures, including the closure of schools, public parks, cemeteries, and sports facilities. In Livorno, the mayor ordered the suspension of all educational activities and the closure of public spaces. In the Maremma region, schools in Grosseto and Manciano have also been closed to ensure student safety during the expected heavy precipitation.

In Croatia, the Kvarner region and Gorski kotar are under an orange alert. The Croatian Meteorological and Hydrological Service (DHMZ) warns of frequent rain and intense thunderstorms, particularly in Fiume. Local authorities in Fiume have activated emergency services and are monitoring construction sites to prevent flooding and infrastructure damage caused by rapid water runoff.
