Tuskegee University named Distinguished Military College

The Department of War has designated five institutions as Distinguished Military Colleges (DMC) under the new America's Corps of Cadets program. The selected schools are Tuskegee University, Louisiana State University, Liberty University, Mississippi State University, and Hillsdale College.

This initiative aims to expand the pipeline of military leaders by establishing full-time Corps of Cadets programs at these partner institutions. The designation requires high standards of cadet discipline, tactical instruction, and military organization. Participating schools also receive 'Honor School' status, which grants priority in officer commissioning.

Tuskegee University is the only Historically Black College and University (HBCU) to receive this designation. The university currently has 197 students enrolled across five branches of the U.S. Armed Services through its ROTC program. Leadership at Tuskegee expects the status to facilitate the growth of a full Corps of Cadets and increase investments in fields such as aviation, cybersecurity, and engineering.
