Mumbai Police arrest IT engineer for threatening Bollywood actors

Mumbai Police have arrested Vaibhav Mishra, an IT engineer from Bengaluru, for allegedly sending threatening audio messages to several Bollywood celebrities. Mishra is accused of impersonating members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang to extort money from prominent film personalities.

The investigation follows extortion threats received by actors Tusshar Kapoor and Ayushmann Khurrana. In Kapoor’s case, a caller identifying himself as Harry Boxer demanded 5 crore rupees. Preliminary voice analysis by the Crime Branch suggested the call may have been a hoax, as the audio did not match official samples of the alleged gang member.

These incidents follow a recent security scare in the film industry involving a firing incident targeting actor Tiger Shroff in Juhu. While the Lawrence Bishnoi gang has reportedly claimed responsibility for the attack on Shroff, investigators believe Mishra may have been using the gang’s name to instill fear and facilitate extortion attempts.
