Tutankhamun exhibition opens in Bologna amid archaeological debates

A new exhibition titled ‘Tutankhamun: the tomb, the treasure, the curse’ has opened at Palazzo Belloni in Bologna. The interactive display features over 100 certified replicas from the Egyptian Ministry of Antiquities, virtual reality experiences, and reproductions of original photographs from the 1922 discovery. The exhibit aims to guide visitors through the life of the young pharaoh, his family lineage, and Ancient Egyptian funerary rituals.

Parallel to this cultural event, archaeological debates regarding the tomb of Tutankhamun continue. Egyptologist Nicholas Reeves has proposed the hypothesis that the tomb (KV62) may contain hidden chambers, potentially belonging to Queen Nefertiti. While Reeves suggests using mini-robots to investigate these walls, geophysicist Catanzariti has expressed skepticism, arguing that geological evidence does not support the existence of secret rooms and cautioning against high-risk drilling without sufficient scientific proof.
