Tutankhamun's physical appearance reconstructed via virtual autopsy
Using advanced virtual autopsy technology, scientists have reconstructed the true physical appearance of the Egyptian Pharaoh Tutankhamun. By analyzing over 2,000 CT scan images, researchers were able to recreate his facial structure and body, as featured in the BBC documentary “Tutankhamun: The Truth Uncovered”.
The findings reveal that the Pharaoh's appearance differed significantly from historical legends of perfection. The scans show he had several physical irregularities, including protruding teeth, an unusually developed chest, wide hips, and a clubfoot on his left foot.
Researchers attribute these physical conditions and hormonal imbalances to long-standing royal inbreeding. The study confirms that his parents were siblings, a practice intended by ancient Egyptians to preserve divine bloodlines but which resulted in severe genetic complications. Additionally, the medical analysis refutes previous theories that his death was caused by a chariot accident, suggesting instead that he died from accumulated hereditary diseases.
